Dear BCE Families,
There is no school for students this Friday, March 18th as it is a teacher professional development day.
This is a reminder that our Spring Break will be April 4-8. The vacation is not connected to Easter (April 24). Please do not plan vacations around Easter as it is in the middle of our California State Testing window. It is extremely important to our school community that students attend school during testing.
We are happy to welcome Mr. Dexter Woods as our head custodian. Mr. Woods comes to us from the Pajaro Valley school district and has a great deal of experience and knowledge.
This year, Governor Brown is asking that a "tax extension" be placed on the June ballot. Since it is uncertain whether the extension will actually make it to the ballot, or whether voters will vote in favor of this extension, all school districts must prepare for a $350 per student reduction. To SLVUSD this translates to $750,000. In the past, the District has asked parents to complete a short survey to help us as we plan for the future. Rather than look at programs to cut, we will again ask parents to prioritize those programs that are most important to you and your child.
