Carnival: The weather should be good for our annual carnival and silent auction this Saturday, May 22. Hours are from 10 am - 3 pm. Additional parking will be available on the lower playground and at St. Michael’s Church. Raffle tickets are for sale in the office and at the carnival. See you there…
Thank you to all of the families who attended Open House last Wednesday. The kids were so excited to show their writing and projects to you. What a great learning community we have.
Remember we still need your feedback to help evaluate the effectiveness of what we do and how we do it. Please help us with this by completing the online survey before May 31.
After completing the survey, please write your name and phone number, along with the secret code, on a piece of paper and return to be entered into a drawing for 2 passes to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. Thank you in advance for your support and feedback. Hard copies are available to fill out in the office if you are not able to do so electronically.
The proceeds (approximately $2000) from the Open House BBQ will help support our Breakfast Club next year. Coordinators Beth Cole, Kim Walter and crew did a fantastic job in cooking and distributing the delicious food.
Update for Last Day of School: The last day of school will be Thursday, June 10. Kindergartners will be released at their usual time. All other grades have a dismissal time of 12:10 pm.
First Day of School will be Tuesday, August 24, 2010. Grades 4 & 5 start at 8:20 am. Grades K-3 start at 8:30 am.
Heads up for next year…We have 3 students in our school who have severe peanut allergies that can result in anaphylactic shock if they touch peanut products. Next year, all Kindergarten classes will be peanut free, including snacks and classroom treats. For grades 1 - 5, we will be creating peanut free zones for eating snacks and lunches next year and supplementing cleaning processes. Remember that peanuts are legumes, not tree nuts. Almonds, walnuts, cashews, etc. are all okay. You can help all students at BCE be safe if you have your children wash their hands with soap and water in the morning after eating breakfast. Hand sanitizer does not remove peanut oil from hands.
