BearMail: Principal's Letter
Dear BCE Parents and Family Members,Thank you to all of the families and BC businesses who participated in Community Partnership Day on Saturday. I understand that all enjoyed the festivities. Thank you to Kim Prader, Kim Walters and Jean Van Ausdall for coordinating our partnerships with the businesses of the valley.
We are accepting gently used toys and books for the GIFT SHIFT that will be held in the MP room this Friday. You can drop off items in the office by the end of the school day on Thursday, 12/11. Thank you to Alissa Nolan for coordinating this yearly event.
Please remind your child not to bring trading cards or Bakugons to school. There have been a few cases of missing Bakugons, which have been distracting to the learning of the owners.
Is your child missing a jacket, sweater or sweatshirt? Please have him/her check the Lost and Found table. Clothes in Lost and Found on December 18 will be donated to charity on the 19th. We have been able to return many items to their owners because they were labeled. Here’s a reminder to label those new pieces of outerwear.
Due to the hard work and perseverance of our Breakfast Club volunteers, the program was recently approved to be able to get some food supplies from the Second Harvest Food Bank. The program is always in need of food or financial donations to help offset the current $400 per month expenditure. Thank you to the Parent Club for the ongoing support of this program.
Our Single Site Plan has been approved by the BCE Site Council and will be up for approval by the SLV School Board this Wednesday. The plan outlines how categorical funds from the state and federal governments will be used to support student learning at BCE. A copy of the plan will be available online once it is approved by the school board.
FYI…As you know, the budget for the State of California is in a fine mess. In anticipation/preparation for cuts in school funding from the state, SLVUSD has a freeze on spending until the issues are resolved/settled. Teachers may spend from their donation accounts (thank you Parent Club) to buy materials for their classrooms. Of course, no classroom will be without necessary supplies or any items related to student health and safety.

Remember, you don’t have to donate to participate. Many families have contributed their toys and books and *donations are still needed.* Children must come with an adult, but adults don’t need to come with children. We’ll see you at the Gift Shift from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.!

Dear Parents,
Would you be interested in serving on the Boulder Creek Elementary Site Council? We need to fill three 2-year terms. Terms of service are aligned with calendar months, beginning in January and ending in December. The role of the school‘s Site Council is to oversee the development of the School Plan, categorical funds, and to assist in setting the course for educational programs at Boulder Creek Elementary.
The Site Council meets the third Wednesday of each month, in the library. Meetings begin at 3:00 P.M. and last approximately one hour.
If you are interested in serving on the School Site Council, please indicate below. Detach and return this form as soon as possible. Your name will be added to the ballot. You may return the application by sending it to school with your child, or leaving it in the school office. All parents will vote for the applicants.
